2014 Volleyball Thoughts From Coach
Our goal this year is to have a winning season, to make it to second round in districts and to win subs. Returning letter winners are Kelsey Haidle, Tiffany Potter, Jordan Rush, Shayla Dockweiler, Emma Badgley, Morgan Eggleston, and Savannah Weverka. These girls have great experience and light to shed on the underclassman. They are great leaders! Jordan was hurt the first game last year so she didn't play the rest of the season. We are excited to get to play with her this year and see what she can bring. Shayla has played an important roll on this team since her freshman year...she keeps the energy up on the team and keeps the pace fast moving, she has an amazing verticle which she puts to work with her hitting and blocking. Kelsey is a great motivator and is one of the hardest workers I know, she is improving her game every day. Tiffany is a hard worker and will do anything you ask of her with a smile on her face. Emma is a strong blocker with a great kit when she gets ahold of the ball and is a voice to be heard on the court. Morgan hits the floor more than anyone I know, she will hustle after every ball. Savannah does a great job as our libero and is always willing to put in the extra time and effort to become better and better. This year we have a nice deep bench. Shaelynn Liable transfered to Callaway from Merna and we are very lucky to have her! She is an amazing hitter and gets everyone pumped up on the floor! Olivia Paulsen has stepped it up this year and has an amazing hit and a great attitude. Madison Reed has come in as a freshman with an amazing sense of the court and can block and put the ball down! Avery Atkins is also coming in as a freshman, she has great court sense and does a great job of getting the ball to the hitters while helping them out seeing the holes on the court!
This is my first year as head coach. I have coached the incoming freshman since they were in 3rd grade. During Jr. High I coached some of those same girls in club ball. I was assistant coach for the Arnold Cardinals in 2009 along side Tami Smith. Kim was my coach when I was in High School my Jr. and Sr. year so I feel we work together well because alot of my coaching philosophy I learned from her. I am very lucky to have her by my side.
