Crane River Theater Trip a Colorful Success

Five of the one act students had the opportunity to attend a production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" by the Crane River Theater Troupe in Kearney on July 31st.

Mrs. Moninger and  Mrs. Badgley took Jasmine Nelson, Jennifer Barraza, Jarret Buchholz, Toni Oberg and Tristan Johnson down for the play Friday afternoon.  They got to meet the cast in the afternoon, hear about their audition experiences, and they also gave advice about being in the theater.

Following a quick dinner, they returned to the Merriman Theater for the evening performance of "Joseph."  The musical was fast paced and the singers and dancers did a great job of showing their versatility of genres of music.

After the performance there was a cast party with all the cast members and the students from the other schools who came to attend.

Saturday morning the students participated in a variety of theater workshops in which professional actors, directors and producers helped the students to improve their own skills at character development, improvisational speaking, stage combat, set design, and so much more.

One of the most popular workshops titled "There Will Be Blood" focused on stage makeup.  There were a lot of students from most schools that seems to have a lot of injuries.

Our students were simply buzzing with excitement on the bus home about all that they had learned and all the fun they had meeting
